Here to stay...for now

It is that time of year again!  I ran in 70's style, and might have found a new path in facial hair style while running about the same time as last year (1:03:07 this year vs 1:02:40) which I was surprised by considering nagging running-related injuries which have plagued my performance for quite some time.  That is the thing I find most frustrating about running since all too often my love for the masochistic burn of holding pace is replaced with skin, foot, arch, heel, or knee pain.  Regardless, I felt pretty damn good after the run, and had the usual "must. beat. the. naked guy!" moment near the finish line.

After the race, I went home, then walked to the panhandle to join in the party, albeit in a rather sober state.  There were some amazing costumes this year (see below).

Climbing in Auburn, May 5

Cori, Ben, and I went to Auburn to climb.  I haven't climbed with Ben for a long time, which is weird considering we climbed several times a week for years, including trips to Mexico, Spain, Italy, and a variety of US destinations.

Leading up Vacavillian (10b? 10b/c? 10d? 11a?)  It felt tough for 10b, that is for sure.

Climb, Ski, Surf, April 20-22

There is great limestone sport climbing in Auburn.

Natalie, Dylan, Cori and I went to brunch at Sunnyside Cafe in Albany, then went up into the hills to climb sharp rock at Cragmont, and boulder around at Indian Rock.

Cori and I met at Linda Mar after work.  Unfortunately, the waves were horrible, but it was fun to paddle out.

Santa Cruz, March 30-31

I had never camped and surfed before this weekend, and I can't wait to do it again.  Climbing is to Yosemite as Surfing is to Santa Cruz here in California, so it was nice to bring my shitty epoxy board out on some really nice waves.  I managed to catch some good waves on Saturday at The Hook, and even got a few on Cori's more aggressive 7'6" board.  Sunday wasn't as successful as a bigger swell and nice weather brought crowds to Pleasure Point.  Along with a nice clean swell came crowds of obnoxious teenagers, but they mostly stayed out of our way, except Cori got her board run over by a little punk.  I was bummed after leaving the water, but am excited to get back down there again.
